London fashion is on the upswing. A few years ago, London Fashion Week was attended primarily by members of the UK Press, but now top editors from the US and Europe are flocking to see a new wave of hip, up-and-coming designers as well as shows from classic English design houses (Burberry and Vivienne Westwood should ring a bell). For Spring 2011, British designers displayed vibrant collections full of bright colors, rocker flair and ethereal shapes—all of which just sung Spring. Come hop across the pond with us and get to know a few of our favorite Brit designers.

Jonathan Saunders’ Spring 2011 Collection (he already designed a collaboration line for Target that you may remember) featured feminine dresses with pops of orange, blue, salmon, and green. Also featured were a group of pleated skirts in the same color palette, coupled with dark button down shirts (with one cut as a flirty black crop). Everything was preppy yet sexy, offering a completely fresh take on spring attire. |

Christopher Bailey is the creative vision behind Burberry Prorsum, the high-end designer collection from Burberry. His designs reinterpret classic Burberry styles (like the trench coat) and for Spring he updated military-inspired coats and trenches, adding bright yellow, blue, and green belts. Meanwhile, a metallic leather trench and a studded leather jacket over a green leopard mini dress infused the collection with a rock-n-roll edge. |

Erdem Moralioglu designs clothes with an English twist—they’re so sweet, they’ll make you wish you had a garden party or high tea to attend with the ladies every day of the week. At the very least, his designs allow you to imagine a world in which these events are celebrated. And he loves lace for spring: his white lace blouses and skirt, his red lace dress, and his floor-length navy skirt all looked lovely. He also presented a wide range of floral pieces ranging from mini dresses and pants to magnificent silk gowns. His playful patchwork dress though, remains our favorite. |

Christopher Kane presented a rainbow of neons at his Spring show, including leather dresses and skirts topped with preppy argyle sweaters. He also showed an array of frocks in bright pink, orange and green. Sheer dresses adorned with lavish colorful embellishments, seen at the end of the show, reminded us of young, edgy starlets like Carey Mulligan. |
